Tribeca Residents Oppose Liquor License Application For Busters Garage

A new sports bar may be coming to the N. Moore Street corner of the Tribeca neighborhood, but residents have voiced their opposition to the proposed liquor license application.

Community Board 1 members voted to recommend rescinding the recommendation after 80 people stormed the meeting last week and signed a petition calling on the board to reverse the recommendation. But the decision to rescind the recommendation is subject to change, and a liquor license could still be denied.

A developer wants to build a 13-story residential tower on the former site of a sports car dealership and bar called Buster’s Garage.

The small building currently houses the sports car dealership and Pittsburgh Steelers-themed sports bar. The new building would rise 146 feet above the surrounding buildings.

Most of the buildings on the block are four or six-story loft structures. Despite the opposition, the Provenzano family hopes to move the bar to a parking garage.

#Plans For New Location

Dave &Buster’s has drawn up plans for a new location near the Galleria at Sunset mall in Henderson. The new facility would have a restaurant, sports bar, and arcade. A new dining area would be on the second floor.

The building would be about 30,700 square feet. The new location would also include a parking garage. Residents of the surrounding neighborhood will be pleased to see the plans for the new facility.

The current location of Buster’s Garage is at N. Moore and Varick. Formerly Divarty’s, this bar was a favorite of Steelers fans. But now, it’s facing opposition from local residents in Tribeca.

The liquor commission will hold a waiver hearing tomorrow, and residents are squaring off in the street. The city’s community board 1 has approved the lease.
